The Laurel Guild

Next meeting, Thursday, October 12, 7:00p in the Fellowship Hall

The Laurel Guild is a women’s group that meets in one another’s homes once a month, excepting June, July, and August.  The meetings begin at 7:00pm with devotions and prayer.  This group supports the work of the White Cross by preparing school and health kits as well as roller bandages.  Donations are made regularly to Mary’s Place which serves the Burmese refugee community in the city of Rochester.  The Guild is also a strong supporter of Aurora House, a recently opened hospice in the town of Ogden.  These are just a few of the areas the Guild supports.

Fund raisers include an annual dinner put on in October and a bake sale at the polls on Election Day.  Recipes were gathered from members and friends of OBC a few years ago and a cookbook was published.  There are still copies available for $10 each.  Often, the Guild will contribute to a financial need of the church as well as maintaining kitchen supplies.  The group also sends cards for birthdays and to those dealing with illness.

Guild's White Cross work day in March was a great success and much was accomplished!

Thanks to all OBC members who helped roll bandages and
fill school kits.  Our totals were 244 roller badages and 98 school kits!

                                    You are awesome!

Women's Auxiliary

Our next meeting: October 12, 2017 - 11:00a in the Fellowship Hall

At our first meeting we prepared  and packed 117 school kits and 39 hygiene kits for Church World Service.  Some of these kits will help people affected by the hurricanes in Texas and Florida.  Thanks to everyone who worked and  purchased materials for the kits.

The Women's Auxiliary is a small group of women who gather regularly for fellowship and devotions.  The group meets at 11am on the second Thursday of the month in the months of September, October, December, April, May and June at the church.  The meetings include devotions, business, fellowship and a sandwich lunch.  The business involves mission work and raising funds for these efforts.  There are two major fund raisers; the bake sale held at the annual dinner put on by the Laurel Guild in October and collecting returnable bottles and cans for redemption.  An offering is taken at regular meetings as well.

The Auxiliary supports the mission offerings of the church, the Fairport Baptist Home, Cameron Community Ministries, and the White Cross.  Care boxes are also packed by the Women's Auxiliary and sent to our college students and service people.

The meeting in December is a Christmas potluck, and in June it is a potluck picnic.

All women are welcome to join this group. When you come bring a sandwich and your place setting at the designated time and the hostess for the day will provide dessert and tea.
